I put together our team of climbers, not to have a list of "hot climbers" in the Trango stable, but in order to have a group of people who have committed their lives to climbing and who have a passion for the sport, the environment, the community and a lifestyle that matches mine. When you see any of my "B" team out at the crags, you can approach them about anything that's on your mind: gear, technique, beta, ethics or even how to rig your own climber-mobile. Meet the team:
Angela Hawse
Profession: AMGA Guide
Lives: Ridgway, Colorado
Age: Whatever
I ran into Angela on a spring day in Ouray. It was sloppy and wet and we must have been really tired of ice climbing because we had slogged through the mud to get to that chossiest crag there. She was belaying her partner, MonkE (right...) and we got to talking and playing "Do you know?" Turns out we did and it wasn’t long before I asked her to be on the team. More...
Julie Seyfert-Lillis
Profession: Profession: Guide, Writing Teacher, Photographer
Lives: New Paltz, New York
Age: ?
I met Julie in New Paltz when I was attending an Access Fund Board meeting. It was after midnight and I was thinking it was time to leave but we started talking climbing and you know how that goes. Turns out she is safety-obsessed and sometimes goes by the nickname Directional. More...
Jason Nelson
Profession: Graphics Designer, Climber
Lives: Ouray, Colorado
Age: You’re never too old to live in Ouray and Jason’s young enough to prove it
A photographer by education, a graphic designer by trade and a climber by avocation, Jason embodies it all. More...

Anna Gonzalez
Profession: Worker, Climber
Lives: Somewhere in the west or DC
Age: Who cares?
The first thing I noticed about Anna is her arms; she could scare a bear with those things. She and her BF were at a party my hosts were throwing in SLC and we got to talking about all things climbing. Before I knew it she was on the team and hanging the rope up for all the boys.
Jack Fieldhouse
Profession: Schoolteacher, Coach, Climber
Lives: Squamish, BC
Age: Old enough to be your teacher!
I was at the Blue Iguana in Salt Lake City when Jack and the rest of the Flashed crew crashed our party. Jack, Walson, Mark and Josh all ended up eating on my dime and Jack ended up on the team. I guess it’s a good way to get introduced to the great climbers because I keep on paying for meals. More...
Eric Odenthal
Profession: Guide, photographer
Lives: Moab, Utah
Age: Old enough to know better than to take a self-portrait in a toilet
Eric came to me at the trade show looking to get "hooked up" like so many others do. As I talked to him I slowly began to realize that he wasn’t asking me what I could give him, but what he could do for me. Eric’s got more energy than the bunny and is always out at the crags shooting and climbing and talking. More...
Majka Burhardt
Profession: AMGA Certified Rock Guide, Freelance Writer
Lives: Boulder, CO
Age: Not telling
I’d seen Majka’s picture plastered all over the Boulder rock Club for years but met her last spring at the Creek. It wasn’t long, of course, before she was hitting me up for sponsorship of her trip to climb in Ethiopia. Ethiopia?!?! Hell yeah. I told her I was in as long as she brought me some of those coffee beans. More...
Claudia Beland
Profession: Nurse, Student, Climber
Lives: Quebec City, Quebec
Age: Hmmmm
Claudia and I met on the rocks below the Magic Bus in Red Rocks. She was with a whole troop of Quebecois at the start of their annual summer road trip and was repping for our Canadian Distributor at the time so it was only natural that she join the “B” team. More...
