How do I know when to retire my harness?

Indoor use:
Less than 10 days per month - Retire in 3 years
More than 10 days per month - Retire in 1 year

Outdoor Use:
Less than 10 days per month - Retire in 2 years
More than 10 days per month - Retire in 1 year.

Of course these are guidelines only. You must pay attention to the conditions under which you climb and constantly inspect the harness for signs of frayed webbing, blown stitching and "crispy" webbing that has been exposed to too much sun. Be especially vigilant of the areas where you tie in the rope, the belay loop and the webbing around the buckles. There are the places that see the most abrasion and abuse.
